I developed a love of writing at an early age. Throughout grade school, I penned my own books in the style of the "Choose Your Own Adventure" series and passed them around to my classmates. In junior high and high school, I looked for ways to give every writing assignment a creative twist. (For a literature class, I once wrote a term paper in iambic pentameter.) I went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Creative Writing and French from Knox College, in Galesburg, Illinois.
After graduating from Knox, I spent 15 months as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Mali, West Africa, teaching natural resource management. An account of my experiences in Africa was published in Potpourri magazine.
My career in marketing has provided me with extensive experience in copywriting, print production, Web usability and development, and search engine optimization.
In 2008 I started a blog, Have a Namaste, which focuses on natural, healthy, authentic living. Blogging led to other opportunities in writing for the Internet, and I began contributing to Web sites such as AltGlobe, Green Diva Mom, and Trails. Ever since, I have focused my freelance writing on Web sites and other outlets that allow me to take advantage of my knowledge and interest in the areas of health and wellness, mind/body fitness, and sustainable living. I am currently studying to becoming a certified nutritionist through the American College of Healthcare Sciences so that I can expand my services in these areas.
